University of Molise will participate to the project through two laboratories of Department of Science and Technology for Environment and Territory (STAT):
Dendro Lab. The laboratory of dendroecology and xilology of STAT Department set itself as a research centre specialised in dendroecological studies through tree rings analysis observed in wood core or other wood samples. A research theme concerns decomposition dynamic of forest deadwood by the use of cross-dating techniques that allow to determine the age from death of a plant or a single wood piece. This studies allow to analyse decomposition dynamic of deadwood, fundamental for biodiversity and carbon balance, and correlate it to forest types and climate region. In recent years Dendro Lab started a close collaboration with WSL (Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research) of Birmensdorf (Zurich, Switzerland) concerning forest biomass decomposition.
ECOGEOFOR. Inside the Forest Ecology and Geomatics Lab researches related to Forest Ecology and Management of Forest Resources has being developed and Forest Geomatics applications has been realised. Thematic areas of research are: Remote Sensing and GIS, Forest Maps and Inventories, Forest Planning and Management, Forest Biodiversity. Ecogeofor joins a national network of laboratories on Forest Geomatics called forestlab.net.
